NCU University Accreditation
Recognition of Your Degree from Northwestern Christian University, USA
NCU Operates Under the Full Authority and Guidelines of the United States Constitution Which Fully Supports Our Right to the Free Exercise of Religeon and mandates that NO law is to made against such freedom which includes Christian education.

NCU was founded in 1980 in the United States.
All NCU programs maintain the same standards of quality, including all independent NCU branches worldwide.
“Founded in the U.S., NCU is continuing our mission worldwide through international online programs.”
A Harvard University degree or a Northwestern Christian University degree may both be considered as earned degrees. The major difference is regional accreditation, prestige, and tuition expense. Few can afford Harvard’s tuition. Northwestern makes it possible for the financially challenged to earn a degree and advance their potential.
Be aware: In today’s educational world, regional accreditation is not always mandatory—especially for ministry-related, non-secular avocations/professions.
Many pastors, Christian teachers, Christian counselors, and others choose Bible colleges and seminaries with non-regional accreditation, resulting in significant financial savings while still providing quality education. In fact, many Bible schools are not regionally accredited.
At Northwestern, many students and graduates have come to us from major seminaries, colleges, and universities, including Liberty University and Fuller Seminary, for their postgraduate studies to earn their Master’s or Doctorate degrees. Many of our graduate students already hold regionally accredited degrees, but this is not always necessary for ministry-related positions.
Membership in IACEA

Northwestern Christian University is a member in good standing with the IACEA (International Association for Christian Educational Accountability).
IACEA provides a Christian alternative to secular accreditation, granting recognition of educational accountability to Christian seminaries and Bible colleges worldwide.
Note: The terms “accreditation” and “educational accountability” are similar, however NCU is not regionally accredited.

Concerning Accreditation in the USA
Accreditation is big business today, fitting the definition of a monopoly. Only a few agencies are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and these impose astronomical fees and requirements that make it financially impossible for smaller institutions to comply.
This monopolistic system controls the market and excludes other accrediting organizations. The cost of accreditation can add up to millions of dollars, which is why private university tuition can reach $200,000 or more for a four-year degree. This leaves many students with massive student loans that take years to repay.
Non-traditional Christian universities, Bible colleges, and seminaries fill this gap, offering affordable alternatives.
Northwestern Christian University is such a school—providing quality, theologically accredited education for 99% less than private universities while offering:
- A state-of-the-art online library
- An online educational management system similar to those used by major institutions
Accreditation and Recognition of Credit
The value of any school’s education is reflected in the quality of it’s educational programs.
Many Christian universities and seminaries elect not to seek regional accreditation. Furthermore, by constitutional mandate, Government is not to dictate regarding Bible teaching and Christian education as it is related to religious education. In fact, NO LAWS are to interfere with such. This is U.S. Constitutional law.
Northwestern Christian University is theologically certified through educational accountability. Transferability of credits depends on each institution’s policies.
Ministry and Christian Education
Your ministry education at NCU adheres to a higher non-secular standard. Academic freedom and responsibility are cornerstones of religious education.
If concerned whether a church or employer will accept a degree from a theologically accountable school, simply ask them! Even regionally accredited degrees can face restrictions depending on a denomination or employer.
Note: Some U.S. licensing authorities require regionally accredited degrees. Potential students should carefully consider their needs, since NCU educational programs are for non-secular ministry-related avocations only.
Government Recognition
- United States: The U.S. provides STRONG constitutional rights, supported by the Supreme Court, providing for the freedom of religious-based education.
- Since 2010 Florida State Dept. of Education has authorized NCU as a degree granting institution through exemption, under Section 1005.06 (1) (f), FLA Statutes. NCU has applied for renewed annual exemption through legal affidavit and awaits the current approval.
Theological Accreditation / Educational Accountability
NCU is a member in good standing with the International Associaltion for Christian Educational Accountability / IACEA.
IACEA is an international membership organization that:
- Provides recognition of Christian educational accountability similar but not identical to to secualr accreditation.
- Maintains high standards through evaluation and compliance
- Upholds separation of church and state (Mark 12:17; James 4:4; II Corinthians 6:14)
- Chooses not to seek endorsement from secular agencies such as CHEA, COPA, or USDE
NCU degrees may be considered educationally accountable but not regionally accredited.
More About Accreditation
In the U.S., accreditation is voluntary and handled by private, non-governmental agencies. The U.S. Department of Education does not accredit any institution.
Religious institutions are exempt from federal or state accreditation requirements. To be accredited by government-influenced agencies could compromise church sovereignty and the principle of separation of church and state.
